Thinking back on summer portraits … during a deep freeze.
We’re in the middle of a deep freeze here on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. I don’t want to go outside. And I just counted the days until Spring on my calendar. I’m probably making things worse by thinking back on some of my Summer portrait sessions. In late August, a mom called me about photographing her three boys. She wanted photos on the beach, explaining that the last time she got them together for portraits, the youngest was a baby and they were taken on the beach. She wanted to go back to the same beach – a “then and now” idea.
We spent a couple of hours in the late afternoon sun at beautiful Risser’s Beach in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. Boys are not really all that interested in getting their photos taken, and brotherly love is a strange animal, at times. However, the bonds in this group are obviously strong, and we had enough cooperation to make sure that Mom has images she will treasure alongside the original set for many years to come.
I’ve got to go and stoke up the fire …. bring on the boys of summer.
