And what does Equiluminance mean anyway?
Equiluminance is a play on words, one of my favourite pastimes. I've always loved the power of language (undergraduate degree in English and French literature doesn't hurt). One word can evoke a thousand images, as well as an image can speak a thousand words. Every picture does tell a story, but Equiluminance is really one word for my story. As much as I love photography, I also love horses and photograph them all the time.
Equiluminance describes the effect of two colors in an image that are so perfectly balanced in tone and brightness that they can create an optical illusion. Psychedelic patterns are equiluminant. But it also describes for me that perfect balance of light and subject required for memorable photos. And "Equi" is also about the perfect animal - the horse - one of my favourite artistic subjects. I decided the word is the perfect representation of my two great passions.
